NICK ATKINS

Nick Atkins is a leading restorer and conservationist who specializes in a wide range of traditional painted, gilded and decorative finishes. He has worked in this unique field for more than 40 years, gaining invaluable experience through years of study and practice both in Europe and in the USA, where he worked for nearly a decade. In collaboration with his sister, Paula, Nick has taught gilding and lacquer skills to students in England, France and Belgium, running short workshops and teaching small groups of amateur and professional students.

PAULA ATKINS

Paula Atkins, after ten years running a large antique gallery in Brussels, began her training in decorative finishes at the Lisa Wassong Studio in New York, one of the top decorative art studios in the USA. After this training, Paula established her own business, undertaking many private commissions and fulfilling the extremely high expectations of her New York clientele.

This work was the perfect foundation upon which to build her first school. Learning from her many assignments, and often working with teams of painters, Paula gained great experience which has enabled her to transfer her academic and practical knowledge to others with confidence and enthusiasm. In the late 1980s Paula launched her own school in Brussels, and rapidly acquired an international clientele.

Paula subsequently opened satellite studios and offered workshops in Luxembourg, Holland, Switzerland and the south of France. She held many summer courses in the west of England, teaching children simplified versions of adult techniques. She has also given talks and demonstrations in embassies and great houses throughout Europe.


OLIVER BUDD

Oliver Budd is a second-generation mosaic artist. He is the creator of a global array of mosaic works, as diverse as the figurative to the abstract and with commissions as far away as Oman to those in his home county of Kent.

Oliver mastered his craft under the tutorage of his late father Kenneth Budd ARCA. Now he is one of the world’s premier mosaic artists with international awards to his name and a wealth of prestigious commissions undertaken from private clients to multi national corporations.

Oliver is a passionate teacher of this unique art form, a visiting lecturer at Chelsea College of art and a member of the exclusive Art Worker’s Guild in Bloomsbury, London.
